"I don't think there's anything on this planet that more trumpets life than the sunflower. For me that's because of the reason behind its name. Not because it looks like the sun but because it follows the sun. During the course of the day, the head tracks the journey of the sun across the sky. A satellite dish for sunshine. Wherever light is, no matter how weak, these flowers will find it. And that's such an admirable thing. And such a lesson in life." - Chris's (Helen Mirren) comment in the movie, "Calendar Girls."

Success

Crosby and I were successful doing nothing on Monday! Very enjoyable to just be like a vegetable and lie around. Today has been different. Cleaning and just boring must do things.
It did rain, but it is still hot. Pretty normal Kansas summer. Actually this summer has been cooler than normal...so much for global warming in Kansas!

I received very bad news this week.. a dear friend, who has been battling breast cancer and then brain cancer found out that the brain cancer is back with a vengeance. She has already had
all the radiation and chemo that she can. Do you all know that chemo doesn't work above the
shoulders? It doesn't. So nothing can be done and without a miracle she will pass on soon. She
has fought very hard. She probably is the only breast cancer patient that actually had her eyes done when she had her breast surgery. Too funny! She was going for a very rested look. She
achieved it. She also had a wine party where she and her friends shaved her hair off. Lots of wine....too funny. She had every wig available. She wanted lots of different looks. She seems
to have accepted the inevitable and I pray that she does not suffer. She was a great support to my family when my father was very ill and near death and now my mom and I will be there to support her and her family. Please pray for Pat.

Wed, the last day of my weekend. I have to mow the lawn. I can not express how much I hate doing this. Yes, I know that I can pay someone to do it, but I have tried in the past and because of the size of the gate on my fence, none of the mowers can fit through. The front yard is manageable, but the back yard, my piece of the planet is too large. I lovingly call it the north 40.
I dread the mow and the Kansas sun will try to kill me as well.....it is suppose to be 90 some....
YUCK! I will end up being so sweaty eddy. I will let you know how the mow turns out.
